To give you some background, our manager / owner was a career water system designer doing large complex water systems in Canada, the U.S. and overseas.

About 12 years ago he decided to create a Municipal water system Design / Analysis program that was easy to use and focused on what what most designers really need.

It has gone over extremely well with all of our mainly medium sized Engineering Firms that want fire flow analysis

The Municipal market, especially larger cities, is a much different nut to crack so has not yet been gone after strongly to date. Similar for Canada in general.

Being designed by a water system designer (myself) and programmed by AutoCAD-savvy programmers, our software is extremely quick to learn and produces excellent results for flow, velocity etc., and for pressures etc. at nodes and many other hydraulic needs.

The scenario engine is very straightforward to work with and is virtually limited only by the imagination of the user.

The program tests hydrants based on user input and produces Excel spreadsheet results for both flow obtained at user-specified residual pressure and pressure obtained at a user-specified flow.

It is exceptionally straightforward to use for Time Steps / Dynamic analysis as tank levels change and cause pumps start and stop and valves to open and close etc.
Virtually any attribute can be reported in Excel

Viewing and Editing Pipe Properties in this watermodeling pressure design software in AutoCAD.
After analysis you can examine the calculated Result Properties such as the water flow, water velocity, pressure drop in that pipe etc. In HydrauliCAD you can edit hydraulic properties exactly as one would edit any AutoCAD object.

Water Pipe Hydraulic Inputs:

User can edit any of the input properties shown in the Palette. Some of the hydraulic properties are: pressure water pipe sizing, pipe classification, specification, and roughness factor. Others are: group and zone tags, AutoCAD geometry, and any of the inherent water system hydraulic objects properties.

Water Pipe Hydraulic Results:

User can view any of the result properties shown in the same analysis software AutoCAD palette. Hydraulic results are: water pressure pipe flow, water velocity, pressure and head loss, and pressure loss rate.

Viewing and Editing Hydraulic Properties in General

Further hydraulic objects are junctions, valves, tanks, pumps and reservoirs. Each type is edited in the very same manner using the familiar AutoCAD properties palette.

This applies to single HydrauliCAD water pressure design software AutoCAD hydraulic objects as well as to mass editing of any number of objects selected as a group.

The groups of objects to be edited can be obtained by manual selection, via a saved selection set or obtained via HydrauliCAD’s special query tools in this program.

HydrauliCAD allows you to create a Fire Flow Scenario to demonstrate the effects of it upon the entire water system design.

It can be applies Static or in any selected Time Step and in all time steps.

Here is an example of Fire Flow occurring during selected Time Steps.
In fact, any number of simple Static Fire Flow Scenarios can be set up for any number of Hydrants to demonstrate the pressure at the hydrant and throughout the entire system.

DEMAND TIME PATTERNS – Water pipe system design software via AutoCAD

HydrauliCAD’s water pipe system design software via AutoCAD uses “Demand Patterns” to determine the outflow at various times. User can have any number of Demand Patterns. They attached to an outlet node quickly.

Examples of nodes with different outflows and with different patterns are Residential, Schools, Factories etc.

An outlet can have multiple Demand Patterns.

Are attached to any Base Demand to allow for changes over time.

User can create several different Demand Patterns and attach them to any Outlet Junction. Once created, Patterns can be quickly transferred to any other drawing.
